Monday workshop
Learning how to make phytograms, learning about the process, mixtures etc.

So based on lessons, workshops and lectures we had I’ve decided to make something simmilar to Phytograms but instead of using plants i wanted to try use fruits. So techically it’s not a phytogram anymore because fruit is not a plant, but its a part of a plant. So i had to come up with a new name for it. I came up with Carpogram!
Karpogram is a fruit photogram.
The term Carpogram comes from the combining In Roman and Greek mythology, Carpus (/ˈkɑːrpɒs/; Ancient Greek: Καρπός, romanized: Karpos, lit. 'fruit') is a minor character associated with fertility and springtime, and Ancient Greek suffix -gramma (-γραμμα), from grámma (γράμμα, "written character, letter, that which is drawn"), from gráphō (γράφω, "to scratch, to scrape, to graze").
Anthotype seemed too time consuming, also we didint had much of UV lights (6) So if too many people would want to make anthotype, nobody could use UV lights. In the end you’ll get very little time for experimentation, and very little of end results. I would definately try anthotype but not in a span of 5 days elective.
Cyanotype is something that i’ve seen many times before, and the process of it seems quite easy. I would try it myself one day, but for this elective i choose to experiment with Phytogram which i’ve never seen before. For me It just seemed like there is much more experimentation with colors of photographic paper and liquids that affect it, and so much more of surprising unexpected outcomes. Also its not too time consuming so for 5 days elective it was a perfect choice.
I thought would be nice to use fruits because they already contain some vitamine c in them and a lot of juice that could affect paper in various different ways. So i’ve decided not to use any solutions how we did before for phytograms, but instead just put fresh cut fruits on a paper.
First step is buying fruits. Before i went for groceries i tried to check which fruits have the most Vitamine C

I bought 12 different fruits to make experiment more diverse. Was interesting to see how each fruit will appear on the paper.
Vitamine C contain in 100 g. of a fruit:
